On Call Africa SCIO was founded in Glasgow, Scotland, by three doctors and an international development professional. The organisation was granted charitable status by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) in June 2010 and became a Sottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in December 2015. On Call Africa was also registered as a Public Benefit Organisation in Zambia in 2012.
The founding trustees maintain regular visits to Zambia: running clinics, developing health worker training, delivering health education, monitoring and evaluating the impact of these activities. The trustees oversee the charity’s work from their base in Glasgow, supported by staff in the UK and Zambia, a growing network of supporters across the UK and beyond, and a team of dedicated volunteers in Zambia.

Our work is enabled by a team of fantastic volunteers: 12 CHWs trained by On Call Africa are working in the villages, and each year up to 20 volunteer doctors from the UK help to provide treatment, teaching and training.
